TopLeft App Updates- April 2021

Here's a summary of the improvements we made to TopLeft in April.

Improvements

  • Time entry forms accept times in the user's time zone, not the PSA environment's time zone. Users outside the PSA environment's time zone can now enter time with respect to their local time zone.
  • Tickets with running timers can be shown and highlighted
  • Added a settings page for managing administrative users
  • Time and note entry dialogs no longer close with the Esc key, to prevent accidental loss of unsaved note contents.

ConnectWise

  • The maximum length of ticket notes is increased to 4000 characters.
  • An option is available to prevent syncing of sales opportunity records.

Autotask

  • Began using the Autotask REST API for syncing certain records. The REST API requires some additional privileges- please update your TopLeft API member's security level so we can continue to download UDF data.

Bug Fixes

  • In ticket notes sent to contacts, newlines are properly formatted.
  • In the ticket note tooltip and dialog, newlines are properly formatted.

New subscription plan, pricing, and licensing

TopLeft is excited to announce a new subscription plan for those who need the visibility offered by Kanban boards but don't need to accelerate technician's day-to-day work. It's offered at half the price of the full TopLeft subscription plan.

We're also simplifying our licensing and increasing some pricing- but you can lock in old prices for the year.

This message summarizes the change. Check out the announcement on the blog for the full details.

Introducing the Basic Plan

We're introducing a new subscription plan for MSPs who need a better way to visualize their ConnectWise or Autotask work but don't need advanced features for accelerating day-to-day work on tickets, such as entering time and dispatching to calendars. If you're a project or service manager who needs to visualize your team's work, and your team mainly works from the PSA and will mainly use Kanban for periodic monitoring of work, the Basic plan could be for you. Monthly pricing is just $15/user.

Licensing Simplification

We're making our licensing more like conventional subscription applications. A license will be needed for any person who uses Kanban boards. And any tickets and projects assigned to a licensed member can be shown on a Kanban board.

For monthly-paying customers this will take effect on May 11. For annually-paying customers this will take effect at your next renewal.

Pricing Changes

We haven't changed pricing in two years. But we've been issuing constant improvements, such as dispatching, project boards, UDF support, worldwide hosting regions, and many others.

So we can continue to invest in making Kanban boards to help you control your work, we're increasing pricing for ConnectWise customers from $27/user/month to $30/user/month. Monthly pricing will increase for Autotask customers when we introduce some key additional features later this year.

Annual pricing for both ConnectWise and Autotask customers is increasing to reflect two months free relative to monthly pricing.

You can lock in the current annual-payment price ($21/user/month) until May 2022. Read the blog post to learn how.

Rank cards automatically

Cards can now be ranked automatically on Kanban boards. Manually ranking tickets has always been useful and is still available, but has the disadvantage that tickets need attention to be kept in the right order.

Automatic ranking eliminates the need to monitor and manage the order of cards. This is useful in many cases. Here are some examples:

  • to see Emergency tickets above Normal priority tickets
  • to see service ticket ordered by their service call times
  • to see project tickets with the earliest due dates at the top
  • to see tickets with the most logged hours at the top
  • to see projects with the earlier end dates above projects ending later

You can configure a Kanban board to rank work by a primary property, a secondary property, and a tertiary property. Of course you can still use the traditional method, ranking cards manually by drag-and-drop for ultimate flexibility.

This will be generally available on May 11, but if you want access to the feature preview already, email help@topleft.team.

Edit tickets from Kanban

Here's something to boost your productivity big time- you can soon edit the most commonly changed details about a ticket right from TopLeft. You and your team will be working faster than ever before!

This will be generally available on May 11, but if you want access to the feature preview already, email help@topleft.team.

More details are in the knowledgebase.

We'll be introducing additional functionality through the next 1-2 months, including changing more fields on tickets, merging and deleting tickets, and editing projects and sales opportunities.

Time entry in your timezone 🌎

When entering time in TopLeft, times are now handled according to your local timezone. For users in a different time zone than your ConnectWise or Autotask application, that means no more adjusting your times to the PSA's time zone. 🎉

For users in the PSA's time zone, you will notice no change and don't need to do anything different.

We will be making the same change to the dispatch/service call dialogs within the next week.

New account permission needed for Autotask

TopLeft needs new permissions granted for its API member in Autotask in order to continue downloading UDF fields for tickets.

Please update the TopLeft account's security level by adding the "Application-Wide (Shared) Features (Full Access)" permission.

For full instructions, such as how to navigate to the Autotask settings where this is found, see the knowledgebase document for Autotask API member setup.

Autotask is shutting down their SOAP API, so TopLeft is changing to use their REST API, and this permission is required to download UDF records using the REST API. At the moment it is only necessary for ticket UDFs, but we expect this permission to be necessary for UDFs on other types of records as we migrate to using the REST API all Autotask data.

Easily track running timers

If you've lost track of the card with a running timer, or have more than one started timer, now there's an easy way to find the running timers.

Just click this icon in the main menu:

The Kanban columns will scroll to show you the running timers.

If you have multiple started timers, click the icon multiple times to scroll to each one in turn.

Manage Administrators in TopLeft

TopLeft administrators can now add and remove other administrator accounts.

To use the new invitation tool, click Admin in the main menu, then Administrators.

New administrators will receive a welcome email and a series of messages explaining their new privileges and best practices for TopLeft.

For the full details, see the knowledgebase article.
