Keeping closed ConnectWise tickets

TopLeft Kanban has never shown closed ConnectWise tickets- until now.

If you want to show tickets in a closed status in Kanban, you can now keep them for a period of time you specify. This allows you to have a column showing tickets in a closed status so you can review them once a day or once a week, for example.

For instructions on configuring this, see the knowledgebase article.

New sync IPs- for on-premise ConnectWise customers

If your on-premise ConnectWise server is behind an IP-filtering firewall, check your allowed IPs. There have been some changes.

  • 2605:cf80:80:c00::1/64
  • 192.243.214.224/29
  • 64.225.4.64
  • 64.225.4.77
  • 64.225.4.65
  • 64.225.4.102
  • 104.248.8.3
  • 64.225.20.123
  • 68.183.57.100

We expect this list to be stable for a while since we've now settled into our new infrastructure. Thanks for your patience while we improved the service.

Easier to use Kanban board edit page

For TopLeft administrators who create and update Kanban boards, we've made a big change to the board edit page. Instead of a single long form, the page is split up into major sections, with each section in a tab.

The tab navigation is always at the top of the page, even if you scroll down.

Also, the Save button always appears at the bottom of the page, even if you scroll up, and we've added a button that allows you to save and return to editing the board rather than always saving and sending you to the board view.

We hope these improvements allow you to iterate your board designs much faster. Let us know what you think!

Show schedule details on cards

If you schedule a lot of work into technicians' calendars, it can be helpful to see the details of the schedules directly on the Kanban cards. Now you can do that in TopLeft Kanban:

As with the compact view of assignments, the border of the assignment indicates when it occurs:

  • Grey outline: the member is assigned without a calendar appointment
  • Blue outline: the assignment is for tomorrow or further in the future
  • Green outline: the assignment is today
  • Red outline: the assignment occurred in the past

Administrators can enable this view by enabling the "Assignment details" option on the Kanban board. If the option is not enabled, assignment details can still be seen by hovering over the member's icon.

TopLeft can make ConnectWise ticket changes using your CW account

TopLeft can now make changes to tickets, projects, and other records as if you made the change in the ConnectWise application. This allows:

  • The audit trail for a ticket, project, or opportunity to show which member made the change, rather than showing the change was made by the general TopLeft API member.
  • Show ticket and time entry notes as being entered by the member when sending notes to customers, rather than showing they were made by the general TopLeft API member.
  • Changes to be subjected to the member's security role restrictions.

To enable this function, you need to make a set of member API keys and put the keys in the TopLeft app. Instructions and an explanatory video are in the knowledgebase.

Announcing custom fields/user-defined fields

Kanban now supports custom fields (ConnectWise terms)/user-defined fields (Autotask terms)! If you thought Kanban provided great visibility into your ticket, task, and project data already, then just wait until you see your own custom fields in Kanban.

You can use custom fields in two ways:

1. Showing custom fields on cards.

For example, here's a custom boolean field "Extra priority ticket":

2. Using custom fields for swimlanes.

You can use any string-type field for grouping tickets in swimlanes. Here's how you configure it in the board edit page:

Custom fields are available immediately and administrators can set up visibility and swimlane options in the normal board configuration page.

Let us know what you think!

New sync source IPs

TopLeft is moving hosting providers. For the details, visit the regular status page. The new provider allows us to offer more reliable service and to focus on improving the Kanban application for you.

If you use on-premise ConnectWise and your ConnectWise server is behind a restrictive firewall, you need to allow access to our new IP addresses. Please review the knowledgebase article on the subject.

TopLeft App Updates - September 2020

We thought in addition to hearing about larger improvements to the TopLeft Kanban app as we release them, you might also like an occasional summary of the smaller improvements we make. So here goes- a summary of the changes we made in September:

Improvements

  • Show ticket/task predecessors on cards
  • Add a function for triggering synchronization of configuration or operational data. This is useful for quickly synchronizing TopLeft with your PSA after you change setup options in your PSA such as ticket statuses, priorities, boards, or queues. The function is available in the Admin > Synchronize Data menu.
  • Show the board description as a tooltip when hovering over the board name in the main menu.
  • Project boards- in the card menu there is a "Show description" item that shows the project description.
  • When hovering the mouse over a card title, the description of the record is shown as a tooltip.
  • Time entry dialog- when opening the dialog, the start time field is set to the current time.
  • Make the "Add Board" links in the main menu more compact, giving extra room to list Kanban boards for customers with a lot of boards.
  • Clarify password reset emails and new customer welcome instructions.

Improvements for ConnectWise mode

  • When the 1-minute sync option is enabled, add synchronization of assignment records.
  • In ticket boards using project phase swimlanes, order the swimlanes by the WBS code so they match their order in the ConnectWise project module.

Improvements for Autotask mode

  • Show a warning to administrators when ticket callouts are not configured, indicatating that tickets will not be updated immediately when changes are made in Autotask. If you don't see the message, you're all good!
  • On ticket and task boards using priority swimlanes, show the swimlanes in the same order as priorities are listed in the Autotask priority setup page.
  • When hovering over a service call indicator, show the service call status in the tooltip.

Invisible Stuff

  • Improve how records are saved to the database when synchronizing your data- only perform update queries when records have actually changed in the PSA.
  • Update to most recent versions of certain Python language libraries, including our major framework Django.

Bugs Fixed

  • Reduce number of database queries when certain fields are visible on cards.

Thanks for using TopLeft Kanban boards for ConnectWise or Autotask!
