TopLeft Improvements - August 2026

Here's a summary of what we shipped in TopLeft during August 2026.

MCP Server

TopLeft now has an MCP server, so AI assistants like Claude can read and work with your TopLeft data directly.

  • Read a view's records and a record's full details.
  • Move records between columns and groups.
  • Connect Claude Desktop, Claude.ai, or any other MCP-compatible client over OAuth or a personal API key.
  • Admins choose who can connect and what they're allowed to do — read-only, or write access to the board, notes, and/or time entries.

This is a beta feature. Email help@topleft.team to get access.

General Improvements

  • Automatic ordering for cards on boards offers three choices, not just two.
  • Hide workflow-stage columns you don't use often on Kanban boards.
  • Filter tickets and tasks by status in the Advanced filter dialog — handy when a single column covers several statuses and you just want the ones that are, say, "waiting on parts."
  • Project and company custom fields (UDFs) that hold a link — a Teams channel, SharePoint site, GitHub repo — can now show as a clickable icon on the card.
  • The filter preview when editing a view now explains its count — how many records are excluded by workflow/status mapping, and how many by licensing.
  • Autotask task and ticket+task views, and HaloPSA ticket views, can group by the project's lead resource / project manager, with unassigned work grouped under "No project."
  • In the record editor, changing a field that another field depends on now reloads that field's choices right away, instead of only refreshing once you click into it.
  • Conditional Formatting rules can now match on a record's own status.
  • A board now tells you when a group of cards failed to load, instead of just looking empty.

ConnectWise

  • Assigning a ticket to someone who isn't on the project's Team tab now offers to add them, instead of failing.
  • The task pod shows one line per item by default, with expand/collapse for longer text instead of cutting it off.
  • Cards can show a project's ID, not just its name.
  • Opening the time entry screen now syncs the contact's info first if we don't have it yet, instead of showing a blank contact section.

Autotask

  • The ticket editor now shows the parent company's contacts.
  • Fixed the Queue dropdown on the board create/edit form, which could render with no options at all.

HaloPSA

  • Projects now support milestones and task dependencies, syncing both ways with Halo.
  • You can set a ticket's milestone directly from TopLeft, and drag cards between milestone lanes.
  • Cards can show a project's ID, not just its name.

Gantt

  • When viewing a single project in the Gantt view, the page includes a header with key project information. And there's a client-safe mode that hides internal-only fields like cost and margin.
  • PDF/PNG export now asks for your options before exporting, and the report itself is readable — real page margins, a legend, page numbers, and text sized for printing instead of getting squeezed down to fit.

AI

  • Choose whether TopLeft's AI features default to Anthropic or OpenAI, and override that per client.
  • Run AI under your own Azure/Foundry credentials instead of ours, for clients who require it.
  • Set an AI data policy per client.
