New color customization and labelling options

There are new options for customizing colors in TopLeft. You can change the background color of the board and the navigation menu and surrounding area. Choices are offered for both light and dark modes.

The purple board background is gone. Safe to say, it was a polarizing choice. 😅 If you loved it, you can restore it.

Here's an example of a customized view:

Furthermore, you can add labels to columns that are shown on the board. Managers can use this to provide simple instructions and reminders to the team. Hover your mouse over the "i" icon to show the comment. This is configured on the view edit page from the Workflows tab.

To edit colors and other branding options, go to the Branding settings page.

The board background comes from the Accent color.

Open tickets in new tab or window

In the board view of the new TopLeft UI you can now open tickets and projects in a new window or tab. This is available from the menu on each card.

Previously you could edit tickets in a dialog, where you had to close the editor to continue using the board. Opening in a tab or window lets you edit a ticket throughout the day since it doesn't interrupt access to your board view. And the window option is useful to overlay the editor over the board so you can see ticket details and a list of tickets at the same time.

The first time you use this feature, you might be prompted by your browser to allow it. Affirm the prompt and save the setting for future use.

For engineers who use the timer functionality, timers are not shown on a ticket opened in a new tab/window, but we plan to add this soon.

Improving Display of Priorities

We made a couple of improvements to how priorities are shown for tickets in TopLeft.

In the old TopLeft Kanban boards, priority was shown as the color of the left border of the card. In the new UI it was shown as a label on the card, but some customers liked the way the old UI showed priorities. So we've added an option to show priority like the old boards.

To use this variation, edit a view and set the "priority display" option to Border.

The second improvement is for Autotask only. In the new boards you can now customize the color of priorities in the TopLeft settings section, and the color is used for the label or border in the board view.

Autotask users may want to customize priority colors because the Autotask priority API doesn't include the color.

TopLeft Improvements - February 2026

Here are some improvements to the TopLeft app we made in February. These don't deserve their own announcement but we think you'll like them.

  • In the search bar, you can press the / key to focus the search field. Then you can click the x in the field to clear it.
  • To copy a ticket number to the clipboard, click the number field on the card. You can do the same thing in the ticket editor too.

  • On cards, the label tooltips indicate what the field is - for example, if a label represents a team or a category or a contact name. For date-based field labels, the tooltip indicates the exact time of the event - for example, "Mar 2 2026, 10:05 AM" instead of "3 days ago."

  • For capacity planning, the project time assignment screen now shows the time estimated in the PSA as well as an indicator for members who are associated with the project in the PSA.

  • For Halo projects, the editing screen now offers forms for assigning members and showing file attachments.
  • For ConnectWise only, for customers with a large number of contacts (tens of thousands), we offer an option to download contact emails and phone numbers at least once a week. Previously, a configuration option would disable this download completely, but this prevented inviting new contacts to the client portal.
  • For ConnectWise and Autotask customers, when making a time entry you can click the indicated button to set the start time of your time entry to the end time of your last time entry.

  • When making selections in fields that permit multiple choices, the choices remain visible after making a selection, so you can quickly make another selection.
  • In the view configuration screen, the filter query builder has been replaced with a component that's easier to use and better matches the style of the rest of the app.
  • Due date labels become orange 24 hours before the due date. This isn't configurable right now, but in the future the threshold will be configurable.

SLA and service call details in new UI

In our new UI you can now show ticket SLA information and the details of a ticket's service calls.

SLA on a ticket card:

Service call details on a card- past calls are red, calls today are green, and future calls are grey:

To show these details, edit a view and in the "card fields" section, select these fields:

  • ConnectWise ticket: Scheduled resources, SLA
  • Autotask ticket: Service calls, SLA
  • HaloPSA: Appointments (SLA not available- we will add it in a future update)

New Gantt Charts

We have introduced new Gantt charts in the old and new TopLeft UIs.

The functionality is equivalent to the old Gantt charts, but the new ones are a a better foundation for the many future improvements we have planned. 😉 Watch this space.

By the way- in the new UI, you can click a taskbar to show the editor where you can update all the fields about the project or ticket/task.

Managing Autotask ticket checklists

In TopLeft's new UI, Autotask users can now manage checklists for tickets.

You can add items, edit or mark them complete, or delete items.

Now there's one fewer reason for engineers to return to Autotask from TopLeft to update tickets.

Unfortunately, due to limitations in the Autotask API, we can't offer this function for Autotask project tasks. 😢

Time entry layout option- time entry on top, old notes on bottom

There is a new option available for entering time on a ticket. Previously the pane showing old notes was on the left side of the screen while the time entry form was on the right. Now you can view the time entry form above the old notes.

This is useful for engineers who don't need to refer to old notes while they enter time, for example because they are the only engineer who ever worked on the ticket.

This is the time entry screen for ConnectWise users. It differs for Autotask or HaloPSA users but the overall layout is the same.

As a user you can enable this option in your own account settings. Click your avatar/initials in the top-right corner, then click Settings, then disable the "Time & Notes in columns" option.

Filtering by board or queue in new UI

In the new UI we have added a dedicated filter for ConnectWise boards or Autotask queues.

For ConnectWise ticket and project views:

For Autotask ticket views:

ConnectWise board and Autotask queue are common choices for filtering tickets, and using this field for filtering is easier than setting up the equivalent filter in the query builder.

Furthermore, for ConnectWise ticket views, the selected boards are used to filter the list of statuses on the Workflows tab, making it much easier to assign statuses to workflow stages. This can reduce the number of statuses in the list from hundreds to just 10 or 20.

For what it's worth, the ConnectWise board selection above is equivalent to this query builder filter:
